The International Society for Forensic Genetics is a world-wide association promoting scientific knowledge in the field of genetic markers analyzed for forensic purposes. This includes genetic typing of biological samples from criminal casework, the investigation of family relationships, the identification of missing persons or victims from mass disasters, as well as all other applications where an individualization of human samples is relevant.
The ISFG has been founded in 1968 and currently represents more than 1100 members from over 60 countries. Regular meetings are held at a regional and international level. Scientific publications are promoted and expert recommendations on forensic genetic analysis are proposed and published by expert commissions.
